Last night I was feeding Mackenzie and was sort of dozing off. I felt something on my shoulder and neck and was a little alarmed but figured it was just my hair falling. A few seconds later I felt something crawling in my hair and knew that this was not my hair. My first thought is that it was one of the jumping spiders that live en masse in our house….but they jump, they dont crawl. So I quickly brushed my fingers through my hair, let out a little yelp and sat straight up in bed. I saw something crawl up the wall and then I though, “gross, it was a baby gecko.” But, geckos tend to avoid the humans so I– I took out my trusty headlamp (see, I told you it was a mom’s greatest tool) and flashed it on the wall. And lo, it was not a gecko or a jumping spider it was a larger than life Okinawan cockroach. DISGUSTING. I immediately poked PC in the back and told him he needed to get it. There was no way I would sleep the rest of the night knowing it had just crawled through our bed (shudder) and was just hanging out on our wall. Lucky for you I happened to have my camera upstairs last night taking pictures of Mackenzie and so at 1am I thought of you internet and knew you would want photographic evidence. When I woke up this morning I told PC I felt so violated. Blech. I mean, what if it was those long antler things that I felt tickling my neck in the middle of the night…it gives me the willies just thinking about it.

Hard to gage how big it is here, but Id say at least 3 inches of cockroach love there.
