Full Disclosure
Sandy has taken another step downhill. And because you want to know, that new step is devouring her own feces. See: Line/Sand? We’ve crossed it and the night I had to wake up at midnight to first clean up the slurry pile of poop that was smeared all over the carpet as then come let her out and chase her down the cul-de-sac, I decided another “consultation” was appropriate. I took her to the vet, this time off base and was basically made to feel that there will be an extra special place in hell for me for even considering putting my dog down (“If dog can walk, we no put to sleep. You dog walking. We offer treatment only.” Awesome, so I should go broke before putting my dog to sleep.) I had a heck of a time finding an extra set of hands for this excursion and resorted to calling one of our best friends who is TDY here for work and let me tell you I felt so totally tacky asking him for help (“Hi, I know you are here for work but Im wondering if I could burden you with my personal problems while my husband is away too?”) Thankfully he didn’t see it that way and told me he was glad I thought of him as someone to call (yes- Im sure that spending 2 hours at the vet with my not-quite-good-enough-to-kill-yet dog and airplane Nathan and a baby was just his idea of fun on a Sunday evening.)
Anyway, aside from the continuing dog drama we’re pretty much status quo around here. Mac turns 4 months tomorrow which probably should warrant a post. Nathan is busy playing in his room. We spent some time organizing and Im always faced with such indecision on what to get rid of and what to keep. He has never played with trains (we inherited a set) and yet I feel compelled to save them. It makes me crazy that his room is a jumbled mess partly because we don’t spend as much time as we should making sure everything gets put back in the right basket, partly because we just have too much random riff-raffy crap. Woe, save me.

I have it on good authority that your friend really didn’t mind. Put the trains on the curb or Japan Update for free – someone else will love them like I love the red table we snagged off the curb! And yes, please update us on Mackenzie because isn’t four months when they start getting a personality? As for Sandy, it was very nice knowing her but you’ve put up with it longer than I would’ve!

I’m sorry to hear you’re having such a time! And off base vets…a friend of mine had her dog in doggie ICU for $2,400+ worth before they finally let the dog go. Anyway, just wanted to mention that Ryan wasn’t crazy about trains until he watched a Thomas video, and then the trains became characters, and more interesting. He still loves playing trains. But he’s always played with everything…I don’t know if he’s ever had a clear favorite.

Sorry the dog drama continues. I can comisserate with you on the “riff-raffy” toy crap. I am in the midst of major sorting and purging…doesn’t it seems like all of those little junky toys multiply overnight? And regarding the train set have you tried setting it up in a different room with more space to spread it out? My kids play with their set a lot more when they can really spread out. And if he has absolutedly no interest and you don’t have space, don’t hold on to it!
