Show Of Hands

Hello package seekers. Im glad Swistle thought so highly of the Japanese goodies because I was having some severe care-package-induced anxiety over what to send.

I would love to share the wealth and make sure each and every one of you are proud owners of the worlds best ice cream scoop, but….just how many of you are there? If there are only a handful of you then thats one thing. If I wake up tomorrow with 400 comments saying “pick me”…..I might need you to click on the Ad’s a few hundred times to support this habit (and lucky for you, the ads are no longer related to pinworms so, yeah, there’s that.)

And depending on how many people there are I’ve been rolling around ideas as to how to handle the fun! stuff! because the cement bungalow is a bit limited on storage space. And I can only consume so many bottles of Famous Daves BBQ sauce at a time. And its not possible for you to send me what I really want which is an Arby’s Jr. So, Im wondering- would it suck all the fun out of it if I had you make a donation to a charity that I like? or you like? or we both like? in lieu of sending me a box? Lets discuss.

As an aside, I love me some Etsy. If someone wants to barter with some Etsy goods…..well, [insert a clever witty comment that I am unable to generate at 9:15 at night, but will probably lie awake trying to come up with].

  • A good ice cream scoop is hard to find!

Sadly, it would be nearly impossible to send along an Arby’s Jr. I cannot even think of a suitable replacement (perhaps some little packs of Arby’s sauce so that you could attempt to make your own?).

Also I cannot think of any very cool things that we have in the US that Japan would not have! I tend to go to the British Import store to buy my candy (because I am a snob for really good Kit Kats).

  • I would love to participate in an exchange–I’d be happy to make a donation to charity in lieu of a box if you’d rather, or just send consumables (I have Girl Scout cookies!!!) or whatever you’d prefer.

  • Kind of unrelated, but I’m wondering about you ads. Do they really generate any income? How does it work?

I’m torn about “pick me!” or not. You know I love some Japanese goodies, but the attempting-to-be-minimalist part of me is screaming “NOOOO more stuff”. ;) I’m still waffling…

I do like the idea of donating to charity though.

  • Just wanted to say hi from one USMC wife to another. We’re on recruiting duty in the middle of the country. Good times! I’m sure there will be a lot of “pick me”s, but please add my name to your list. I would be happy to send you whatever you’d like, or donate to a charity of your choice. Here’s one of my favorites: http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ Hope all is well!! Thanks!

  • Jill…..I think we know each other (maybe you are already aware of this)

Im fairly sure our husbands went to school together, we did baby boot camp together, you forgot your camera and asked us to take pictures (and we’re losers and never sent them)…..any of this ring a bell?

  • Over here from Swistle.

    Japan stuff is AWESOME!

I can do charity contributions. OR I can send you some Dinosaur Barbeque sauce. It’s good. It’s a local fav. And you can rotate it with the Famous Dave’s when you want something different!

  • I LOVE exchanges, and think the donation idea is a fine one for those looking to declutter. (I also love small-world internet stories like the one above)
