Shopping Commenced
Shopping for packages has begun. So, for those of you who are “sure things” I’ll be emailing you to get the details. I still like the idea of donating to charity, and if you would prefer that over buying a box of goodies, thats ok. However, when you started tempting me with things like packets of Arby’s sauce, local BBQ sauce, and the like, I decided that, yeah, well, twist my arm and, Why Yes!, I would like a package from you. Also, I’ve started packing lists (HEY, packing LISTS are not the same as packing) so, you can help me acquire the things I cannot acquire here. Win win.
On a separate but related topic, I have no clothes. And I don’t mean that in a ‘woe is me, I have a whole closet full of clothes and nothing to wear’ sort of way. Quite literally, I barely have enough short sleeved shirts to get through the week. I have ordered thousands of dollars of stuff from the Gap and have returned about 98% of it (also- when did medium become the new large? All of a sudden their shirts seem huge.) So, give me some suggestions. I’ve clearly exhausted the Gap. I dont really like Old Navy because I think their stuff looks like junk after a few washes and I like Banana Republic and J. Crew but I think I’d cry everytime I had baby sweet potatoes smeared all over my $80 cotton t-shirt. Please help me. My husband finally admitted that the purple polo shirt from Target I have been wearing for two years HAD to go (and I was grateful he said it because I felt like a total frump wearing it). And yes, Im fairly embarrassed to admit I’ve been wearing a Target shirt faithfully for two years but living over here, its not like I go to the mall and pick things up as I see them….its either order online or nothing at all. Japanese clothes don’t fit. The BX is worthless. So, it takes intentional effort to sit down at the computer and order clothes. And with all the free time I find myself with most days, you can see why Im wearing my sad purple polo. Puh-leze, send suggestions. Or size Mediums.

Have you tried Eddie Bauer? I have quite a bit of luck with them. (They used to make ALL their shirts crazy short in the torso, but they’ve fixed that – thank goodness!).
Or Bass & Co.? They have great tees.
And finally, Sonoma brand from Kohls? They also have great tees.

Ha ha, I was just going to suggest Eddie Bauer too! I’ve also got lots of Columbia brand shirts these days–nice fit, wash well, look cool. I get mine at a local store here, but I’m sure you could find a good source on line. Oh, don’t forget REI outlet too–might score some nice finds there (I’m a big Prana fan).
If it makes you feel any better, I have nothing to wear either. And I don’t even have the handy excuse of living in Oki anymore. I just hate shopping, oh yeah, and I’m broke.

Hey, there’s no shame in wearing Target clothes until they die! I have a black shirt from Target that’s probably about 4 years old by now and it’s goin’ strong. Have you looked at LandsEnd? Their shirts fit me great, but their pants have a really weird crotch/fit…. I think it’s worth checking out. Be sure to look at their ‘overstocks’ section for good deals.
Good Luck!

I personally love my t-shirts from Ann Taylor Loft. They have some style to them so I don’t feel like I am wearing the same thing everyday and they go through the wash really well so don’t worry when my daughter gives me a sticky hug.

What about Eddie Bauer for shirts? I live in their clothes. “Dressy” enough for my casual workplace, but comfy enough to wear to the playground too. We’ve got an outlet so I can usually snag deals!
