The Great Campout Charlie Brown

We survived a night in the wild. The kids had a blast, there was plenty to do, plenty to eat and a few too many s’mores. Mackenzie took some coaxing to get to sleep (she wasn’t thrilled about sleeping on her foam changing pad), Nathan crashed immediately, and I was sleeping well until the neighbors daughter started puking (of course there was puke), then I never really got back to sleep.

Im a fan of camping in Okinawa. I slept with only a sheet and we had the the doors unzipped (screens up though) on the tent all night- even on the warmest of summer nights in Colorado you could never do this. I think I’ll wait to camp again until we have a walker. Carrying her around all evening got a bit tiring and she was not happy about being parked in a stroller. She was good though, she thought crawling around in the tent was A Big Deal, squealing like a piglet bouncing around on the air mattress. She especially enjoyed the bouncy house when it was just her and Nathan. Unfortunately I couldn’t leave them to go get my camera. It would have made some good video footage.

Im going to have to pat ourselves on the back too because, sort of like hosting a nice dinner, we impressed our neighbors with our camping preparedness. “You don’t have any….umm like dish soap do you?” Oh yes I do. “We didn’t bring tongs…” Got em. “Where do we wash our hands?” In the girl-scout-esque camp sink I made. They did ask for a basting brush for the BBQ sauce and I did come up short on that. I might just make a camp checklist for you all, because Im NICE like that. Not today though.

I promised Nathan a craft of some sort this afternoon so lets wrap this up:
