Heres the thing

I like the idea of blogging. I like having my own platform….soapbox if you will to say what I want. I like getting comments- all 3 of them. But right now Im just not very motivated to do it. I think this has been a slow and steady decline since embracing Facebook (oh cringe) I know. I know. But most of the time I end up posting something that I’ve already posted about there, so the people who are faithful readers usually end up hearing about life’s minutiae twice. So, Im sort of at a crossroads as to what to do. I like keeping track of the kids’ milestones but even that has sort of fallen to the wayside. Im feeling sort of ambivalent about what to write about. So many, well not so many, but several of the blogs I read seem to have a focus and therefore a dedicated following…..cooking, quilting, money, decorating, shopping and Im just sort of….all over the place. WHAT should we talk about?? I mean Swistle has people writing her asking her questions that she can answer. I need something like that– give me an assignment or something. We pay I dunno twenty bucks or something to have this website hosted and Im not sure its worth it. So, I guess things are just sort of in limbo.

Also, completely unrelated, I saw someone refered to as “Becky-home-ecky” and that is funny. Better than Susie homemaker.

Mackenzie’s awake. I think we’re done here.

  • PLEASE! Keep blogging :) . I love your blog and love how you write. I think your focus is the NO FOCUS. Or should I say, your focus is the way you write about yourself, your husband, and your kids in a fun, love ‘em, sometimes get exasperated with life, MOM kind of way – and I totally relate! Plus, living in Japan, where will you all end up next, etc. spice things up, too. You would be missed on the interwebs were you to leave. I totally get the $20/month savings thing, though – maybe your three readers (or maybe more if you count the lurkers like me) could take up a collection? Or move over to blogspot or something (don’t have my own blog so don’t have any suggestions there)? All this to say – persevere! Keep writing the blog! Facebook is lame :) .

  • Personally, I like the randomness. But I would, that’s my “style” too. :)

I agree with Jenny, Facebook is lame. I’m not digging it–it just doesn’t work if you can’t be on there constantly and I can’t. I’m sick of loosing my blogging friends to FB. :(

Don’t sweat the costs, move over to a free site and write when you feel like writing. I’m sure all three of us will be waiting…

  • I like reading what you have to say. I agree with with the FB issue. Why not blog it here, then put a link on FB = more readers on your blog because they have to come here to read about it and we do. We all click like crazy on FB and check out links and pics etc. So, here is just another angle for ya! :) (PS. I love reading your blog) Don’t go…

  • I like reading the blog. Unlike Facebook, the blog gives a real update as to the goings on of the household. Besides, I consider the blog like a journal. It will be nice one day when your kiddos can look back at all the things you and they were doing when they were young. I say keep it going :)

  • I’ll say it: Facebook is stupid, your blog is cool. I’d MUCH rather figure out what’s going on with my family from your blog than Facebook :)

Seriously though, on FB you’re “status” is just another update in a huge long list of updates for one person to read. Reading your blog, though, people go there because they want to read whatever you have to write. That’s my opinion, but I’m a little biased.

  • I say keep blogging. Just writing about what you feel like, when you feel like it, is a style. It’ll be a good keepsake for you one day, you can print out your posts into a book if you wanted. Without your blog I never would have known that I, too, could own the best ice cream scoop in the world.
